Program Content and
Criteria
Our
training and development program is based on four pivotal aspects of sport and
development.
1) Physical – Skills and technical training, safety,
general fitness and flexibility, nutrition, core strength, rest and recovery,
training to train and race, balance and agility
2) Cognitive &
Emotional – Responsibility for yourself
and your behaviour, knowledge of yourself and your feelings, awareness of
thoughts and actions, ability to solve problems and make decisions (tactics),
preparation and time management.
3) Cultural &
Spiritual – Philosophy and values,
perspective and beliefs, understanding the principals of sport, honouring all
participants and peoples.
4) Social – respect for yourself, others and the rules, responsibility as a role model, leader, friend, teammate, positive sports perspective, life outside sports, value family and friends.
PROGRAMS
Recreation Program -
Objectives:
Stress
the importance of being active, setting personal achievement goals as opposed
to winning / losing goals. Develop
skills in swimming, biking, running and sport strength training through
exercises, games, contests and races.
Build an aerobic base, develop speed and strength
towards the end of the stage, and further develop and consolidate sport
specific skills. During Training, young athletes consolidate their basic
sport-specific skills, this is a window of accelerated adaptation to aerobic,
speed, and strength training. During
competitions, athletes play to do their best, but the major focus of training
is on learning the basics.
Emphasize
flexibility training given the rapid growth of bones, tendons, ligaments, and
muscles.
Development Program-
Objectives:
Learn competition skills, increase aerobic
conditioning, power, speed and agility.
Provide year-round training, teach athletes, who
are now proficient at performing basic sport specific skills, to
perform those skills under a variety of competitive conditions during
training.
Individual
training programs, recovery programs, psychological preparation, and
technical development. Emphasize
individual preparation that addresses each athlete’s individual strengths
and weaknesses. Introduce
periodization as the framework for training plan preparation.
Consolidate
their basic sport-specific skills, develop tactics. During
competitions, athletes compete to win, to do their best, training is used to
improve limiters, and develop competition plans.
Emphasize flexibility, strength and power training. Learn to cope with the physical and mental challenges of competition. Train athletes in daily competitive situations in the form of practice matches or competitive games and drills.
Performance Program.
Objectives :
Optimize sport specific
skills, competition skills, recovery, strength, speed, technical expertise.
Provide year-round, high intensity, individual
event specific training.
Teach
athletes, who are now proficient at performing basic and sport specific skills,
to perform those skills under a variety of highly competitive conditions during
training.
Introduce
and refine advanced skill development
Place
special emphasis on optimum preparation by ‘modeling’ high competitions in
training.
Emphasize
individual training plans and preparation that addresses each athlete’s
individual strengths and weaknesses.
The
club has annual registration fees for individuals, and families. The club
fees must be paid at time of program registration. Please contact the club registrar if you have any questions
